Parenting coach

Mindful tools for modern parenting—from a pediatrician, parent and coach.

  • I help parents and caregivers who are ready to connect more with their kids and find a new way forward.

You may have read parenting books, listened to podcasts, asked ChatGPT for advice, tried different approaches, but it still feels like nagging, yelling, repeating yourself, or issuing threats is the only way to manage.

Are you sometimes overwhelmed and yearning for more connection?

—Do you occasionally have a short fuse and get easily frustrated when parenting?

—Does a lot of conflict surround screens?

—Are you caught in power struggles that keep repeating themselves?

—Do you ever get to enjoy your family instead of managing everyone?

—Are you wondering how to better manage meltdowns, academic struggles, or deal with self-doubt? If you are raising a child with neurodiversity, these challenges can require even more patience and resilience.

These scenarios are common. And, it’s common to want or need more support in building your capacity to stay regulated, stay compassionate and stay on course. For many, coaching helps.

  • More confidence and connection: yes, please.

Even the former Surgeon General has sounded the alarm bell on a crisis of parental mental health. We all show up with the best intentions and want the very best for our children, but it’s hard not to fall back on punishments and reprimands. Parenting is the hardest and most humbling job we do—what evidence-informed ways can build our capacity to do it well?

    —Self-compassion

    —Nervous system science

    —Communication skills

    —Mindset.

Coaching is more than education. You can learn a lot from ChatGPT or TikTok (sources, accuracy, and reliability may vary widely). Learning is necessary, but it is often not sufficient.

Coaching is a partnership, with accountability, support, practice, and a new way forward, with the aim of changing behavior and automatic habits or reactions. We can all benefit from support and a safe way to practice tools and new modes of communication.

  • What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative process of discovery in which a trained coach helps one recognize thoughts and feelings with the goal of moving forward toward a desired outcome. Coaching brings awareness to limiting beliefs and thought patterns that we often don’t even recognize are there. Unlike therapy, coaching is grounded in the present moment and explores how current thoughts impact feelings which in turn drive actions that determine results. Coaching is an unregulated industry and there is no requirement for licensure.

    As your coach I will:

    -Be an engaged listener

    -Ask powerful questions

    -Help you identify limiting beliefs

    -Help you expand thought processes

    -Help you design action steps

-Teach you evidence-based practices to help lay the path forward

-Provide a non-judgmental, confidential and nurturing space for exploration of thoughts, feelings and goals.

Coaching is not therapy and should not replace care from a licensed professional.
